Computer Science Principles focuses on the fundamentails of computer architecture, networking, Internet architecture, web development, database and software development. It is only offered in the Fall semesters as a year-long course. This course aligns with Weber State University's 4 credit CS 1030 - Foundations of Computing course.
Students will take a placement exam towards the the end of the first semester; and students who pass will have the option of skipping the second semester of CS 1030 and taking CS 1400 instead (earning college credit for both courses). Students who remain for the second semester will then have the option to sign up for the college credit for CS 1030. Students who do not sign up for the college credit cannot take CS 1400.
Programming 1 focuses on the Java programming language and basic software development concepts. It is only offered in the Spring semester. This course is a "pure" 4 credit semester concurrent enrollment course that aligns with Weber State University's CS 1400 - Programming 1.
